The HJS chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is made up of students who exhibit the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership and good character. Membership is by invitation only and is based on maintaining an 85 average in academic courses and positive recommendations by at least four faculty members. Invitations for membership in the 2007-2008 school year went out in May, 2007. The induction of the new members who turned in their admission forms and dues will be held in September. Each semester the Honor Society sponsors a campus-wide service project. In past years projects have included a Thanksgiving food drive for a local charity and participation in the Leukemia Society’s Pennies for Patients project. Students are expected to fully participate in these service projects.
Sponsors are Carla Griffin and JoBeth Bacon. |
