Victoria Walker Elementary School is Goose Creek CISD’s newest campus, opening its doors to students for the first time in August 2007.  “Caution: Solid Foundation of Excellence Under Construction” is our theme for 2007-08, showcasing what we know will be a “groundbreaking year” for students and staff.  Our goals include the following:

A message from our principal . . .

Welcome to Victoria Walker Elementary School!  We are very excited about our first year in a new facility with a wonderful group of students.  Together we are starting traditions that we hope will last for generations.

Our school is named after long-time educator Victoria Walker, who first taught in the Cedar Bayou School District and then in Goose Creek CISD when the two districts merged.  In 1933, Mrs. Walker became the teacher at the school she formerly attended in Cedar Bayou, and that school was named after her in 1951; it became part of GCCISD in 1954.  In 1964, the school closed, and Mrs. Walker and her students moved to George Washington Carver School.  In 1967, Mrs. Walker was assigned to Stephen F. Austin Elementary School, becoming the first black teacher there.

Victoria Walker devoted her career to excellence in education, and we at Victoria Walker Elementary carry on this legacy with a strong commitment to quality education for all students.  Our teachers, staff, and students are thrilled to be a part of this exciting time in Goose Creek history!
