Facts
about our school...
Carver
Elementary has a long and interesting history. The original
campus was built in 1946 and served as the school for
Baytown's African-American students during the years
of segregation. In 1995, the school site off Lee Drive
was closed when oil was detected seeping from an underground
oil pit on the playground. The students were dispersed
to six different sites for two years. In 1997, the students
and staff were reunited at the Kilgore Center. The new
Carver opened in the fall of 2002, serving over 700
students.
Carver
Elementary was also a Texas Recognized School for 1998-99 and again earned this honor in 2006.
A
message from our principal...
The Carver
staff, students, and community work together diligently
to create an environment where students take responsibility
for the learning process. We are continuing our efforts
to help all children reach their full potential as productive
members of the community. "Don't settle for less...reach
for the stars!"
