Board Meeting Opening Exercises

April 26, 2012 – Goose Creek Memorial High School

The opening exercises for the April 26 Board Meeting was given by students from Goose Creek Memorial High School.
Members of the GCM Interact Club presented a slide show of their service project, “Wreaths Across America,” and gave a brief history of the project. The students — Miguel Davila, Miesha Frank, Gabriela Carrillo-Reyes, Jorden Kay, Brian Galvez, and Amanda Chavez — closed with the Rotary Four-Way Test.
The students are under the direction of the Ms. Patti Bell, CTE Business teacher and principal, Mr. Al Richard.

February 27, 2012 – San Jacinto Elementary

The opening exercises for the Feb. 27, 2012 Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees meeting was given by students from San Jacinto Elementary. The pledges were led by John Michael Crow and Breanne Pittman. Mrs. Crawford’s second grade class will performed “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles. This song was part of their Valentine’s Day lesson and tells the world how "easy" loving one another can be.
The following students participated in the opening exercises: John Michael Crow, Miguel Faz, Hennessy Garcia, Vanessa Gaytan, Zechariah Hoops, Emily Marroquin, Mason McComb, Breanne Pittman, Liliana Rocha, Fabian Sanchez, Miranda Villarreal, and Sebastian Villegas. The students are under the direction of the music teacher, Danny Mejia and principal, Becky Robins.

February 13, 2012 – Highlands Elementary
The opening exercises for the Feb. 13, 2012 Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees meeting was given by students from Highlands Elementary. The pledges were led by Highlands Elementary School Students Kennedy Jacquet and AtlyWright. Choir students performed Beatles songs.
The students who performed were Myreya Avila, Isabel Badall, Cole Bergeron, Macy Burns, Taylar Carter, Ayana Davies, Kandyce Dutton, Caide Hurley, Kennedy Jaquet, Payton Keyes, Marissa Lemus, Hayden Linder, Colton Mohler, Avi Rambarran, MadisonWood, AtlyWright, and Vianey Trejo. The students are under the direction of Donna Johnson, Deidre Richard, and principal Ruth Perrin.

January 23, 2012 – Robert E. Lee High School

The opening exercises for the Jan. 23 Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustee meeting was presented by FFA students from Robert E. Lee High School.
Students from the district-winning “Agricultural Issues” team made a presentation about feral hogs in Texas entitled “Friend or Foe.” The following students participated in the presentation: Clay Leatherwood, Cailun Fite, Demi Hofstetter, Sam Shroyer, and William Botting.
The students are under the direction of the teacher Lawrence Richard and Principal Bruce Davis.

December 12, 2011 – De Zavala Elementary

students sing for trustees
The opening exercises for the Dec. 12, 2011 Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees meeting were performed by fourth and fifth grade students from De Zavala Elementary School.
The students — Luke Hebert, Jackson May, Wesley Lawhon, Ramon Gomez, Chris Roth, Kiana Morris, Haley Hallman, Katherine Talent, Victoria Alvarez, and Kyleigh Motley — sang and danced to “Rocking Around The Christmas Tree.”
The students are under the direction of Principal Dr. Precious Reimonenq and music teacher Amber Whitten. |

September 26, 2011 – Ross S. Sterling High School

The opening exercises for the Sept.
26, 2011 Goose Creek CISD Board Meeting were given by students from
Sterling High School. The following students presented a program about
the dangers of texting and driving: Sam Vallagomesa, Morgan Barnhill,
Happy Situ, Jarrod Odom, Kelsey Gesford, and Keia Hopson. The students
are under the direction of teachers, Whitney Bell and Becki Bryan and
principal, Dr. Don Beck.

The opening exercises for the Nov. 14 Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustee meeting were given by students from
Cedar Bayou Junior School.
The following students — Erica Inman, Reyna Jackson, Ashley Trejo, Erika Erwin, Breanna Runnels, Halie Lige, Nicole Rangel, Allison Stults, Faith Love, Mariah Vigier, Jessica Cardenas, and Zoey Henderson — sang “Seasons of Love” from the musical Rent and a song from their fall concert, “Sing Softly World.”
The students are under the direction of Principal Greg Lynd, choir director Lorin Hilyard, and accompanied by Luanne Jay. |

October 24, 2011 – Stephen F. Austin Elementary
|
The opening exercises for the October 24, 2011 Goose Creek CISD Board Meeting were given by students from Stephen F. Austin Elementary. Fifth grade students shared with the Board two songs sung at their Veterans Day program last year. The students will say a few words between the songs about who is a veteran and who is a patriot. The following students participated in the presentation: Kacee Acker, Seth Baal, Hayden Bernard, Brooke Byers, Landon Files, Anikait Gadi, Carolina Gallegos, Julia Lovett, Christian Medina, and Angel Ross. The students are under the direction of the music teacher, Ms. Carol Colvin and principal, Mrs. Laura Smith. |
