Election Day draws near

We are in the final six weeks of the 2012-2013 school year, and the end-of-year activities are upon us. We appreciate the efforts of all of our teachers, administrators, and parents who help our students achieve at high levels.

Don’t forget that Goose Creek CISD voters have the opportunity to vote on the Schoolhouse Bond Election on Election Day, Saturday, May 11. You have probably read in the newspaper, on the District’s web site, and in other informational materials that the bond proposal includes two propositions for school improvements: Proposition One, totaling $177.69 million, includes new construction projects to keep pace with District growth, and Proposition Two, totaling $89.85 million, aims to make necessary facilities’ improvements and repairs.

A recent demographic study projected that GCCISD will grow by approximately 4,500 students over the next 10 years. That growth would be supported by the three new elementary schools, a technology facility and transportation center, Career and Technical Education improvements, and District-wide technology projects intended to be funded by Proposition One.

Included in Proposition Two are facilities improvement, safety and security updates, and necessary maintenance projects which were identified during recent assessments and facilities’ reviews.

Our District web site, www.gccisd.net, has more bond information, including details of the proposed improvements at each campus. If you have a question about the bond proposal, please submit it on our web site, and we will answer it as soon as possible.

I encourage you to vote on Election Day, Saturday May 11, at your regular voting precinct location, if you have not already voted early. At Goose Creek CISD our vision continues to be Excellent School District – Excellent Schools where all students graduate college and career ready.

Thank you for your support of our District.
