The Role of ARAMARK Services at Goose Creek C.I.S.D.

ARAMARK Services is the nation's leading service management firm, specializing in all types of food service accounts at colleges, universities, hospitals, convention centers, arenas, business and industrial complexes, among others.  ARAMARK is recognized as a leading management company around the world with accounts in Europe, Asia, Canada, and Latin America.  Recently, ARAMARK Services was the official foodservice manager at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.   It was the tenth time ARAMARK has managed food services at the Olympics.

The School Nutrition Services division serves over 300 public and private school districts throughout the United States.  ARAMARK began serving schools in 1949: today, the combined enrollment of districts served by ARAMARK numbers over 1 million students.  Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District contracted with ARAMARK School Nutrition Services beginning with the 1989-90 school year.

ARAMARK's philosophy here in Goose Creek is simple - to offer the best food service possible to its students and staff at the most reasonable cost to the district.  The food service program in Goose Creek belongs to the school district, and the district makes all decisions on the operation of food service.  Also, kitchen staff members in each location remain Goose Creek school district employees.

ARAMARK's role is to enhance the program through innovative menus and various food service concepts, while assisting the district in controlling costs in all areas of food service.  Because of volume bidding through various cooperatives with other districts, Goose Creek's food and supply purchases result in substantial cost savings to the food service program.  ARAMARK's programs allow the district to offer a wide variety of menu options to all its students and staff to satisfy the tastes of as many of its customers as possible.  With promotions and other special events, the goal of ARAMARK School Nutrition Services is to make lunch time a fun time!

ARAMARK also offers support in the areas of employee training and staffing, continuing education for kitchen staff, production techniques, recipes,  facilities planning, and accounting services in meal tracking and purchasing.  The in-house management team is available at all times to ensure that the food service department operates smoothly at all Goose Creek locations.  ARAMARK also assists the school district in complying with all USDA, Texas Education Agency, local health departments, and other federal rules and requirements.  Revenues generated by the food service program remain with the school district, and ARAMARK only receives a fee based on the number of meals served at pennies per meal.  With the backing of ARAMARK School Nutrition Services, Goose Creek Schools are able to tap into a wealth of support, technical assistance, and experience unavailable to other school food service programs.
