The Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary School mission is to empower students to be creative, critical-thinking citizens with strong, positive work ethics.
The following goals for our students have been developed:

• 90 percent of all students at Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary will demonstrate the competency needed to master the reading, writing, math, and science sections of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test.
• Average daily attendance percentages for Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary School will exceed the state goal percentage.

Facts About Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary:

Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary School, built in 1970, is a nurturing, exciting place where learning takes place every day.  Approximately 545 (19% White, 36% Hispanic, 43% African-American, and 2% Other) students are currently enrolled at Jessie Lee Pumphrey.

Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is active in providing positive support for students, teachers, and parents.  The PTO provides funds for field trip transportation, our school wide celebration day in May, and many more enrichment activities.
Jessie Lee Pumphrey partners with ExxonMobil Baytown Olefins Plant (BOP) through the Baytown Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education program.  BOP is very supportive of our campus, providing supplies, attendance incentives, holiday assistance for families of needy students, campus volunteers, special programs for our students, and mentors.
 
Jessie Lee Pumphrey Awards/Honors:

• Texas Recognized School - 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2006
• TEA Gold Performance Recognition for Commended Performance in Math 2006
• Jessie Lee Pumphrey and BOP have twice received the Baytown Chamber of Commerce award for the most outstanding partnership in the Partners In Education Program.

A Message From Our Principal:
Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary is a wonderful place for children.  The Jessie Lee Pumphrey Family, made up of teachers, paraprofessional staff, custodians, cafeteria workers, students and parents, are all a part of our "Together We Can" philosophy.  We are dedicated to creating the caring, supportive, academic environment we are proud of at Jessie Lee Pumphrey.  We would be delighted to have you visit our campus.
