GCCISD Job Shadow
The student will experience by immersion what it is like to be a teacher by
assisting them for a day. This is done once a semester at any school in GCCISD.
Educational Issue
The student will research, define, and present the pros and cons of a current educational
issue. They should ask at least 5 teachers about their opinions on the issue and incorporate that into their report. They will give a 5 minute speech with poster board, handout, or other visual aid to club members at club meetings. The issues may be at the local, state, or national level. Examples are, respectively, hall sweeps, Robin Hood funding, and No Child Left Behind(NCLB).
University of Houston-Clear Lake
The student will have the oppurtunity to visit and take a tour of University of Houston-Clear
Lake. This college is a participant in the Bay Area Educator Recruitment and Retention(BAER) program. Workshops and lunch are provided!
Adopt-a-Bulletin Board
The student will utilize their time and exercise their talents to assist teachers
at REL with the bulletin board/doors in their classrooms.
Peer Tutoring@REL
The student will assist teachers and students of the 9th grade House during
peer tutoring sessions after school.
Elementary Study Buddies
The student will assist elementary teachers and students in after school tutoring
program.
FTA Website
To create and maintain a website for FTA@REL to post projects,
progress, pictures, and members.
Student Aide @ REL
The student will assist and aide teachers with the administrative duties of
their classroom, such as filing, grading papers, organizing, etc.
Ronald McDonald House
The club will gather items for Ronald McDonald's Wish list to take to TAFCS
conference in Austin on March 2,2006. (Ms.Goss will attend this
conference)
