Fellowship of Christian Athletes

 

FCA is an organization allowing Christian athletes, or just everyday athletes a chance to meet together and become more educated in Christian field of studies. These students meet once a week to discuss and describe the bible to one another enabling each other to have more knowledge of God.

Future Farmers of America (FFA)

 

"Learning To Do...Doing To Learn...Earning To Live...Living To Serve."

The FFA is an established organization and the REL Chapter is just part of this great group. The FFA is an organization that teaches leadership and responsibility for tomorrow's youth.

Motto: FFA members why are we here...To practice brotherhood on an agricultural bases and opportunities and responsibilities and develop those qualities of leadership, which a FFA member SHOULD posses.

French Club

 

Members must be either enrolled in a French class or have had at least one year of French. First year fees are $5, second year fees are $2.50, and third and fourth year is free.

International Thespians Society

 

This organization offers students exposure to the larger world of theatre. As members, they benefit from publications edited specifically for high school and middle school theatre enthusiasts; from participating in events like state conferences and the International Thespian Festival; from the recognition that comes from being a part of an honorary organization; and from the widened perspective that proves they share an interest with millions of peers. Thespian students also have an array of scholarship opportunities open to them at state and international thespian events.

Interact

 

The REL Interact Club is primarily a service organization in association with the Baytown Chapter of Rotary International. Interact Club is a non-profit organization that is sponsored by Mrs. Riley, but directed by the students who serve in it. At the beginning of every school year, students are given an opportunity to sign up to participate in Interact. No one is excluded; the club is open to all grades, and has no minimum GPA requirements. Applicants must simply sign their name on the list and fill out the application. All applications are automatically accepted when they apply. Meetings are generally held regularly every other Tuesday morning of the month.

Jazz Band

 

REL Jazz Band is a small organization of band members who like to have even more fun after school. These players get together every Thursday to practice and they perform at various functions.

Journalism

 

REL Journalism encompasses both the school newspaper, The Leeder and the Yearbook, The Traveler.

The purpose of The Leeder is to inform, entertain, and provide a forum for all students in the form of letters to the editor and guest editorials. The newspaper keeps students informed about what is happening on campus by covering the following areas: school news; sports; features; any other news that affects students. Students may also write columns on topics of their choice.

The Yearbook I and II classes create and design the school yearbook, The Traveler. Students in the class work to improve their skills and then apply them to the yearbook. Students learn photography, writing, layout and design.

Key Club

 

The Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. What makes Key Club so successful is the fact that it is student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their school and communities.

Key Club International is an organization of individual Key Clubs and is funded by nominal dues paid by every member. Its officers are high school leaders elected by the members at district and International conventions. The organization offers a wide range of opportunities to its members:

College scholarships Vakye-added member benefit programs
Subscription to the Keynoter magazine Liability and medical insurance coverage

National Honor Society

 

Members of the REL Chapter of the National Honor Society retain a 4.4 GPA or higher and must produce an application showing leadership and scholarship potential. A character survey from faculty members is also required for admission. Members must complete 15 service hours for the year. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month.

ROTC

 

The Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (MCJROTC) program is designed to instill in high school students a value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. This program intends to:

  • Develop leadership and build character.
  • Create informed, patriotic,a nd responsible citizens.
  • Develop responsible young adults who are physically, mentally,a nd morally fit.
  • Develop informed and civic-minded young adults prepared for high education, civilian careers, and public service.
  • Instill discipline, respect, and responsibility through military-related subjects and activities.
