District Junior School One-Act Play Festival

Madeleine Broussard (left) from Gentry Junior School was selected as District Best Actress, and Cash Hill from Highlands Junior School was selected as District Best Actor at the recent District Junior School One-Act Play Festival.

District Junior School One-Act Play Festival

Gentry Junior School captured first place at the recent Goose Creek CISD Fall 2017 Junior School One-Act Play Festival with “Sunday Costs Five Pesos.” Highlands Junior School placed second with “Rikki Tikki Tavi,” and Baytown Junior School placed third with “Game of Tiaras.”

Gabriel Brock from Highland Junior received the Outstanding Technician 2017 award, and All-Star Individual Technician Awards went to Alexander Perez from Gentry Junior, Jace Kiernan from Baytown Junior, Crystalrose Hernandez from Baytown Junior and Vincent Lackey from Horace Mann Junior.

Cash Hill from Highlands Junior was selected as District Best Actor in the role of Rikki Tikki Tavi. Madeleine Broussard received the District Best Actress award for her role as Berta.

All Star Cast Acting Awards went to Gabriel Brock from Highlands Junior; Darbi Mullins, Heaven Clark, and Diana Rodriguez from Baytown Junior; Lauren Mudd from Gentry Junior; Jason Cormier and Celeste Dudley from Cedar Bayou Junior and Danny Pavey and Henry Aguilar from Horace Mann Junior. The Ensemble Award was presented to the chorus from Baytown Junior.

Honorable Mention Acting Awards went to John Estoquia and Evan Williams from Highlands Junior; Angie Galvez and Jennifer Quintero from Horace Mann Junior; Kala Caballero and Logan Symmons from Cedar Bayou Junior; Abby Patterson and Bianca Juarez from Baytown Junior and Brandon Broussard and Emelia Logan from Gentry Junior.

Dr. Jerry Ivens from San Jacinto College Central served as the judge. This is the third year that all five junior schools have participated in the festival.

“I’m excited about this opportunity to have our junior school talent showcased at this festival. One of my goals is to involve some other districts in competing with our schools in a second round,” said Phillip Morgan, GCCISD director of fine arts.
