Welcome, Dr. Ellen Akers, to Goose Creek CISD as the Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Akers has a doctorate from William Howard Taft University in Educational Leadership. She comes to Goose Creek from Pearland ISD, where she was the Director of Testing, Accountability, and Program Evaluation. She has served in Clear Creek ISD as the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction and, before that, as a middle and high school science teacher.

Dr. Akers is originally from North Carolina but currently lives in League City with her husband, Bruce. They have been married for 23 years and share a daughter, Alexa, a junior at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, studying psychology.
