Newspapers in the classroom is a valuable teaching tool. Students can benefit from newspaper lessons related to reading, writing, content area subjects and character development. The students in my class are using newspaper to connect to our language arts lesson by reading an array of articles that focus on our classroom literacy skills. Newspapers are a strong motivator for students to connect with the world today. In addition, students love being able to understand and read current news and there is something to interest every student in our local newspaper. The use of newspapers in my classroom enables meaningful and interesting communication.
