Casey Mulryan-Veen, head volleyball coach at Goose Creek Memorial High School, was selected as one of the Thirty Under 30 high school volleyball coaches, announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Mulryan-Veen’s overall coaching record is 125-50. She began her career in 2012 at Livingston High School, where her team was the District Runner-Up for two years, Bi-District Champs and Area Qualifier in 2012 and Bi-District Qualifier in 2013. Moving to Lamar High School, under her leadership, her team achieved District Runner-Up and Bi-District Qualifier. At GCM, her volleyball players were the undefeated District Champs, Bi-District Champs and Area Finalist in 2015. In 2016, the Lady Patriots were Co-District Runner-Up, Bi-District Champs and Area Finalist.

During her coaching career, Mulryan-Veen has coached 11 All-District 1st Teamers, 51 academic All-District players, two All-State players, District MVP, District Defensive Player of the Year and District Offensive Player of the Year. She was selected as head coach of the West Team in the SETCA Volleyball All-Star game and assistant coach of the South Team in the GHVCA Volleyball All-Star Game.

As a four-year starter at the University of St. Thomas – Houston, she was A.I.I. Player of the Year twice, Most Valuable Player of Conference Tournament twice, 1st Team All-Conference three times, All-Region team three times and All-American Honorable Mention.

“I am very excited to know that Coach Mulryan-Veen achieved this accomplishment. Her hard work and dedication to the sport is shown through continued success of the GCM Volleyball program. I am glad that she is part of the GCM family,” said Bren Jones, GCM athletics director.

An excellent coach who pushes her player to reach their full potential, Mulryan-Veen has helped many student-athletes go on to play college volleyball. She brings energy to the game, showing her love for her athletes as well as for volleyball.

“I am very surprised and honored to be considered one of the top thirty coaches under 30 in the nation. This award is an acknowledgement to all the players I have coached, assistant coaches I have worked with, and programs I have been a part of. I am very humbled by this recognition,” said Mulryan-Veen.
