The 6th Annual Career Night, hosted by the Goose Creek Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department, is scheduled for January 25, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ross S. Sterling High School, 300 W. Baker Road, Baytown, TX 77521. A shuttle service will be provided from Robert E. Lee High School and Goose Creek Memorial High School to Ross S. Sterling High School, starting at 5:30 p.m. and returning at 8 p.m.

H-E-B on Garth Road will sponsor a hospitality room for business and industry partners as well as volunteers. Open to all students, parents and community members, this event is designed to provide Baytown youth with an opportunity to meet professionals from a variety of fields as well as representatives from high school and post-secondary programs and technical schools to help students and parents learn the pathway to a successful career of their choice all in one location.

Among the participants will be the Baytown Police, Chick-fil-A, Edward Jones Financial, H-E-B, Southeast Texas Educational Foundation, Beacon Federal Credit Union, Shell Chemical, LeNôtre Culinary Institute, Beacon Federal Credit Union, Lee College, City of Baytown, Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital, Universal Technical Institute, Bartlett Cocke, Austin Industrial and more.

“We’re excited that we will be at Sterling High School, which is centrally located. Not only will employers be there, but also our teachers and Goose Creek CISD departments will be there to talk about careers in the school district,” said Tameka Mills, GCCISD Career and Technical Education coordinator.

High School Option Information Sessions will be available with presentations on the career academies, IMPACT Early College High School, Stuart Career Center and Stuart Career Technical High School.

Goose Creek CISD is still looking for business and industry partners to volunteer their time to speak with students about careers in their respective industries. This is not a job fair, but it is an opportunity for students to meet people in careers that may interest them. It may also help them make informed endorsement and program of study decisions while they are in high school.

There is still time to volunteer, to sign up for a table or to donate a door prize. Contact Tameka Mills at 281-420-3082, tameka.mills@gccisd.net or visit this page.
