District Holds First Wellness Fair for Staff

District Holds First Wellness Fair for Staff

Goose Creek CISD hosted a Wellness Fair for all district employees in the Ross S. Sterling High School Commons the first day back from the holidays. The event, “Plug in the Pieces to Your Health,” was designed to give staff tools for a healthy start to a new year.

 

Forty-six vendors and more than 350 employees attended the Wellness Fair, organized by GCCISD Human Resources and Benefits departments. Participating vendors were 24 Hour Fitness, AAA, AFLAC, Allstate Benefits, AMBA, Ameritas Vision, ARAG, AXA, Bayshore Hospital, Baytown YMCA, Camp Gladiator, Chick-fil-A, City of Baytown, Costco Wholesale, Eagle Pointe Recreation Center, First Financial, GCCISD Behavior and Mental Health, GCCISD Benefits, Goose Creek CISD Healthy Community School Coordinator, Gold’s Gym, Grand Canyon University, Harris County Public Health and Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital.

 

Also participating were Humana Dental, Joint Chiropractic, Kelsey Seybold, Kroger, Lamar University, Lee College, Lee College Wellness, Metlife, MD Anderson, Rightway Imaging, Salata, Sam’s Club, Smoothie King, Summit Dental Center, Sun Life, Texas Children’s Health Care, The Rose, United Way, University of Houston Clear Lake, UNUM, UT Arlington Online, Village Family Practice and Weight Watchers.

 

“Stephanie Myers, benefits coordinator, and our staff did an excellent job of organizing the Wellness Fair, which made our employees aware of resources in the community they might not have known were out there,” said Eloy Chapa, assistant superintendent for human resources. “We hope to provide another event of this type in the future to allow even more vendors and employees to participate.”

 

Door prizes, donated by the vendors, went to employees Sandra Adcock, Tara Aguilar, Letty Arredondo, Patricia Authement, Kevin Billings, Stephanie Boykin, Kim Bryant, Rosemary Calico-Hopson, Sarah Capestani, Tahnee Cornelius, Deanne Cummings, Aracelie De La Cruz, Crystal Garcia, Norma Garcia, Brandi Gonzales, Frank Gonzales, Juan Gonzalez, Stella Gonzalez, Margie Grimes, Andrew Gross, Nikki Harrison and Ryan Heffernan.

 

Martha Herrera, Courtney Holt, Debbie Jackson, Maria Jimenez, Joel Kunz, Traviata Lewis, Constence Lunsford, Christina Marioneaux, Tammy Matejka, Victoria McCoy, Brian McLemore, Nicole Mengo, Jennifer Miller, Rebekah, O’Banion, Elizabeth Perez, Tara Pohonly, Harley Preto, Laura Reyes, Maria Rival, Linda Rye, Allison Selensky, Carrie Smith, Stewart Howford, Cynthia Trevino, Jessica Vasquez, Mike Wagner, Tamera West, Angela Westbay and Mandi Whitaker also won door prizes.
