Dear Goose Creek CISD Families,
As we prepare for the start of a new school year, I want to personally thank you for your continued investment in our district. It is because of you that we are able to give our students the best there is to offer in education. The safety and security of our students and staff are of the utmost importance and we will continue to do what is best for them. For nearly two years, our district has operated following the Safe Return to Schools plan. This document, which is fluid, contains protocols set forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Texas Education Agency (TEA), and local health officials. We encourage all students and staff to follow the recommended safety guidelines that have been established. Though we have made the difficult decision to not offer virtual instruction this year, we are currently working on various instructional platforms and avenues to reach our students that may have fallen behind due to the pandemic and we are confident that we are prepared to offer a safe learning environment for our more than 23,000 students. Our Executive Council and the COVID-19 Taskforce meet regularly to discuss the pandemic and what that means for the district. As conditions change with COVID-19, the Taskforce will update and modify our plan as needed.
Our district did an amazing job last school year communicating active COVID-19 cases via the COVID-19 Dashboard. We will continue to use our COVID Dashboard again this year as long as the need persists. The Dashboard will serve as our primary communication method for all COVID-related case notifications and will provide Campus Response Levels that reflect active positive cases throughout the district. The Dashboard will allow our families and staff to review the number of active COVID cases at each campus. All positive cases will be reported to our local and state health authorities.
Our job is to provide the world with the next group of GCCISD GIANTS and with this plan and the buy-in from our stakeholders, I believe we can do just that.

A medida que nos preparamos para el inicio de un nuevo año escolar, quiero agradecerles personalmente por su continuo apoyo en nuestro distrito. Es gracias a ustedes que podemos ofrecer a nuestros estudiantes lo mejor que hay en la educación. La seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y el personal es de suma importancia y continuaremos haciendo lo mejor para ellos. Durante casi dos años, nuestro distrito ha funcionado siguiendo el plan de Regreso Seguro a las Escuelas. Este documento contiene protocolos establecidos por el Centro para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC), la Agencia de Educación de Texas (TEA) y los funcionarios de salud locales. Recomendamos a todos los estudiantes y al personal a seguir los protocolos de seguridad recomendadas que se han establecido. Aunque hemos tomado la difícil decisión de no ofrecer instrucción virtual este año, actualmente estamos trabajando en varias plataformas y vías de instrucción para poder llegar a nuestros estudiantes que se hayan retrasado debido a la pandemia. Estamos seguros de estar preparados para ofrecer una educación con un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro para nuestros más de 23,000 estudiantes. Nuestro Consejo Ejecutivo y el Grupo de Trabajo del COVID-19 se reúnen regularmente para tratar el tema de la pandemia y lo que esto significa para el distrito. A medida que cambien las condiciones del COVID-19, el grupo de trabajo actualizará y modificará nuestro plan según lo sea necesario.
Nuestro distrito hizo un trabajo increíble el año pasado al comunicarlos casos activos de COVID-19 a través del Panel de COVID-19. Continuaremos usando nuestro Panel de COVID nuevamente este año mientras haya la necesidad. El Tablero servirá como nuestro método de comunicación principal para todas las notificaciones de casos relacionados con COVID y proporcionará los Niveles de Respuesta de las escuelas que reflejan casos positivos activos en todo el distrito. El Tablero permitirá a nuestras familias y personal revisar la cantidad de casos del COVID activos en cada escuela. Todos los casos positivos se informarán a nuestras autoridades sanitarias locales y estatales.
Nuestro trabajo es proporcionar al próximo grupo de GIGANTES de GCCISD el mundo y con este plan y la aceptación de nuestras partes interesadas, creo que podremos hacer precisamente eso.
