Gentry Shines in Junior VASE Competition

Fourteen Gentry Junior School art students, under the director of art teacher Jennifer Martin, participated in the Junior Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) competition at League City Intermediate School in May. The students presented 20 individual pieces, and 15 out of those 20 pieces received the highest rating of a 4. Students discussed their art pieces with a judge, who scored them on interview, artistic skills and the overall success of their artwork. Eleven of the 14 students received a score of 4 and a medal. Lauren Mudd received a platinum rating on one of her pieces. Students who received the highest rating include Ivan Castillo (two pieces), Lindsey Cortez (two pieces), Yazli Gonzalez, Ashlee Meyer, Mia Moore, Max Moore, Lauren Mudd (two pieces and a Platinum rating), Alondra Nunez (two pieces), Kimoni Pree, Ximena Silva and Azurley Vargas. Kaitlyn Davis, Rebecca Gaines and Ariana Mercado each received a score of 3 on their art pieces. Kimoni Pree and Max Moore each received a 3 on one of their two pieces submitted.
