Superintendent Joe Rodriguez
Dr. Joe Rodriguez began serving as superintendent of Goose Creek CISD in January 2026, becoming the district’s 16th superintendent in its more than 100-year history.
Dr. Rodriguez holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in educational administration, and a doctorate in educational leadership. With twenty-seven years in public education, he brings deep experience and a steady, student-focused vision to every role he serves. His career includes leadership at every level—elementary school principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, and five years as Chief of Schools in Fort Bend ISD, where he oversaw daily operations across 81 campuses serving more than 78,000 students.
In Fort Bend, he led major districtwide initiatives that strengthened academic performance, expanded student opportunities, and equipped campus leaders with clear systems of support. That work helped remove low-performing designations and earned statewide recognition for excellence.
In 2021, he became Superintendent of Fredericksburg ISD, bringing a student-first, team-centered approach to the district. Under his leadership, Fredericksburg ISD improved its state accountability rating from a C to an A, earning an A rating for the 2025–2026 school year. During his tenure, the community also passed the largest bond in district history, employee salaries increased significantly, and the district implemented additional safety and security measures to protect students and staff.
Throughout his career, he has remained grounded in one belief: students achieve their best when supported by confident teachers, strong campus leadership, and a community that stands behind them. That commitment has guided his work and shaped the culture he strives to build.

The 2026-2027 school year is underway, and we have started the year with high expectations for our students and staff. We believe our students are capable of more, and as a district, we must hold ourselves to that same standard.
One way we are putting that commitment into action is through our new Curb to Classroom initiative. Campuses are holding weekly readiness huddles to ensure our schools are safe and ready for learning from the moment students, families, and visitors arrive.
As we wrap up our first full week of the 2026-2027 school year, I want to thank our students and families for helping us start the year strong. It has been exciting to see our campuses filled with students and learning in full swing.
Our campuses continue to enforce the updated dress code consistently, and we are seeing fewer infractions each day. We appreciate our students taking responsibility for meeting these expectations and our families working with us to support them.
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! As we welcome our students back to school, I am excited about the opportunities ahead and all that we will accomplish together. A new school year gives us the chance to build on our strengths while continuing to raise expectations across Goose Creek CISD.
