Career & Technical Education

The Goose Creek CISD Career Academies are small learning communities within larger campuses that focus on a career theme. Academy students take classes as a group (cohort) which provides students the opportunity to attend classes with other students with similar interests.

Academic classes integrate the career theme into assignments, with projects that span across multiple subjects. Students learn from a rigorous curriculum, which includes opportunities for Advanced Placement (AP) courses, dual credit courses, career-oriented courses, and college and career learning opportunities directly related to the career theme. Enrichment activities that help students learn more about college and career opportunities are provided each semester and culminate in a senior capstone experience that may include internships, practicums, mentoring or other career-based experiences.

All 8th grade students may apply to any of the Goose Creek CISD Academies regardless of the high school to which they are zoned. Please see the High School Options Page for more information.

Students enrolled in one of GCCISD's two Career Programs will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in courses specific to cosmetology or maritime. Students will engage in project-based learning, work with community and industry partners, and experience field trips and internships within their chosen career program.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) career clusters are designed to help students explore career options and plan their educational paths, organize career-related courses and programs of study, connect classroom learning to real-world career skills, and prepare students for success in high-demand, high-skill, or high-wage occupations.

Goose Creek CISD offers CTE courses under all 14 Career Clusters. These clusters are grouped related to occupations and industries to help students discover their interests and abilities, choose relevant coursework, develop skills needed for their chosen career fields.
