Graduate Guidelines

General Guidelines:

Wear comfortable clothing; the ceremony is outdoors.
Pants, jeans, dresses, and skirts are acceptable.
Ties are optional.
Gowns must be fully zipped for the ceremony.
No heels, Crocs, or flip-flops.
Caps should sit flat on the head and should not be decorated.
Keep tassels out of the face.
Tassels should be worn on the right side until instructed to move them to the left.
Do not chew gum.
Smile when shaking hands with the presenter.
Shake hands with the right hand.
Accept the diploma in the left hand.
Do not slouch.

Male Graduate Guidelines:

Cap flat on head.
Well-groomed appearance.
Approved achievement medals, cords, and pins may be worn.
Wear dress shoes.
No flip-flops or Crocs.

Female Graduate Guidelines:

Cap flat on head.
Well-groomed appearance.
Approved achievement medals, cords, and pins may be worn.
Dress shoes, wedges, and flats are acceptable.
No heels, Crocs, or flip-flops.

Campuses will have specific information and guidelines to which all students must adhere in order to walk at graduation.

  • Gowns should be wrinkle-free for the ceremony.
  • Caps and gowns should be worn, fully zipped to walk in the graduation ceremony. 
  • Caps must be worn flat, parallel to the floor. No decorations on caps. 
  • Tassel is worn on the right side.   
  • Wear comfortable clothing; it will be hot outside.
  • Pants, dresses and skirts are acceptable. Ties are optional.
  • Wedge heeled shoes and flats are acceptable. No heels, Crocs or flip flops.
  • Exemplary achievement medals, cords and pins may be worn if approved by the principal.
  • Diplomas for RSS, REL and GCM will be passed out at the end of the ceremony. Diplomas for Stuart Career Tech and IMPACT will be distributed at the campus.
  • Students from RSS, REL, and GCM who cannot be dropped off at Gentry Junior School will be shuttled from their campus starting at 5:00 PM.
