Substitute Qualifications and Application Process

To be eligible to substitute in any of the following positions, applicants must meet one of these requirements:

• Hold a bachelor's degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate; or

• Hold a bachelor's degree; or

• Have completed a minimum of 45 college credit hours; or

• Hold an associate degree.

Eligible substitute positions include:

• Substitute Teacher

• Substitute Librarian

• Substitute Nurse

To be eligible to serve as a Substitute Aide, applicants must possess:

• A high school diploma; or

• A General Educational Development (GED) certificate.

How to Apply

1. Submit an application by selecting Apply Online from the navigation menu.

2. Attend a Substitute Orientation Session. Qualified applicants will be contacted with the date, time, and location.

3. Bring the following documents to the orientation session:

   • Original Social Security card

   • Valid photo identification (driver's license or passport)

   • Copy of your high school diploma or GED certificate

   • Voided check or direct deposit form
