Board of Trustees

bond issue 2013

Goose Creek CISD voters will have the chance to consider a $267.54 million bond proposal for school district improvements in a May 11 bond election.

The development of this bond package follows many months of work by area residents, business and industry representatives, community leaders and District personnel who served on the Facilities Planning Committee. At the start of the process, the District sought nominations from a number of service organizations and education groups, plant managers, city and county officials, area Chambers of Commerce and other groups, as well as self-nominations. In addition, principals nominated parent representatives for the committee.
The process for developing a bond proposal was based on projections from demographer Dr. Pat Guseman of Population and Survey Analysts, Inc., who conducted a demographic study of the District. Her results indicate that GCCISD will have growth of almost 4,500 students over the next decade.
In addition, committee members considered the results of the facility condition assessment conducted by VLK Architects and Jacobs. This assessment included the inspection of 72 District facilities and development of an inventory of major equipment. Campus administrators also provided input on site improvements for their schools.
After hearing the proposal of the Facilities Planning Committee, the Board of Trustees adopted the order and called for the May 11 bond election. Early voting will be held April 29 through May 7 at a number of sites listed here.
