Anonymous Campus Crime Stoppers Online Submission
No! All tipsters are kept completely anonymous. Crime Stoppers will not ask for names and will give the tipster a code number. This number is for the tipster only and should not be given to anyone else. No one will know who sent the tip unless the tipster tells them. A protected or encrypted message from your email or text is sent to Crime Stoppers. The Crime Stoppers phone does not have caller I.D., so they cannot trace the call. If the tip leads to an arrest or recovery of weapons or illegal drugs, the tipster could be eligible for a reward, but the tipster must contact Crime Stoppers with the code number to inquire about it. Rewards are also given anonymously. Remember, Crime Stoppers does not have the information to contact you. By providing a tip, you can help keep classmates, friends, teachers and school safe and crime-free.
Through the utilization of Campus Crime Stoppers, Goose Creek ISD has established a foundation in security. Numerous cases have resulted in positive information vital to the success of an investigation. Some of the more concerning offenses have included arson, graffiti and prescription drug possession cases. There are many more good tips that have been received about narcotics, tobacco, knives, brass knuckles, bullying and breaking serious school rules.
The following three cases are just a few of the highlighted success stories that have been received through the years from individual Campus Crime Stoppers programs.
Each Campus Crime Stoppers program is organized with sponsors, a student board, and a Police coordinator. Sponsors are staff members who are usually teachers. Students at any grade level can join to form a student board. Once they are part of the board, a monthly meeting is scheduled by the sponsors to discuss the cases brought forth by a Police coordinator. The student board will discuss information received on positive tips and designate rewards to be paid on these cases.
Each year, selected student board members may attend the Texas Campus Crime Stoppers conference to learn what it takes to operate a campus program, publicize their organization, raise funds, organize media projects and effectively develop a productive board meeting. Students who serve on Campus Crime Stoppers boards of directors learn leadership skills as they administer their programs with the advice of their sponsors, raise funds to help pay rewards for tips, publicize the program and obtain student involvement in making their campus a safer, more desirable place.
