Daniel Lopez was named the new principal of Goose Creek CISD’s Crockett Elementary School at the March 5 GCCISD Board of Trustees meeting.  He replaces Sue Chatham, who was chosen as the principal of the new Victoria Walker Elementary School.

At its Feb. 26 meeting, the Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees chose Victoria Walker Elementary School as the name for the new elementary campus located at 4711 Seabird St.  The facility will open at the start of the 2007-08 school year.

Elementary Sue Chatham, principal of David Crockett Elementary School, was named as principal of Goose Creek CISD’s new Elementary #14 at the Jan. 22 meeting of the GCCISD Board of Trustees.
Fourteen GCCISD schools have been
named 2006 Recognized Campuses
Goose Creek CISD is celebrating the announcement that 14 district schools have been named 2006 Recognized Campuses by the Texas Education Agency, with six others deemed Academically Acceptable.

Goose Creek CISD's College Night
planned for Sept. 26
Goose Creek CISD will hold its annual "College Night Round-up" on Tuesday,
Sept. 26, at Robert E. Lee High School, 1400 Market St. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Commons.

Instructional Calendar Update
As a result of Hurricane Rita, the 2005-06 Goose Creek CISD calendar has been changed.  Feb. 3, which was originally scheduled as a faculty workday, will now be an instructional make-up day.  Feb. 17, which was originally a holiday/bad weather day, also will be a make-up day.

Public hearing on 2006-07 calendar
On Monday, March 27, 2006, a public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building, prior to the Board of Trustees meeting, for comments and concerns regarding the 2006-2007 GCCISD Instructional Calendar. Click here for more details on the proposed calendars.

Candidates may file through March 13
The Superintendent's Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 13, during the district's spring break, to accept applications on the ballot for the Board of Trustees election. The election will be held on May 13. For information, call 281-420-4816 or 281-420-4842.

Goose Creek CISD teams from throughout the district are making preparations for this year’s Bay Area Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, which will be held from 6 p.m. April 21 to 10 a.m. April 22 at Stallworth Stadium.
 
Student artists honored by Galveston Bay Foundation
Fourteen Goose Creek CISD elementary school students have been honored by the Galveston Bay Foundation for their winning entries in the 2006 Galveston Bay Children’s Calendar Art Contest.
 

Public hearing on start date to be held March 27
Goose Creek CISD will hold a public hearing prior to the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, March 27. The public hearing will allow citizens to provide input about next year’s Instructional Calendar early start date of August 14, 2006. The public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Administration Building, located at 4544 I-10 East, Baytown, Texas.

 

 

Goose Creek CISD art winners recognized
Eight Goose Creek CISD students won top awards in the district’s recent Rodeo Art Show on Jan. 11. Members of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Committee judged the event.
Jack C. (Trey) Whitley III of Ross S. Sterling High School won “High School Best of Show” for his sculpture, “The Eyes of the Hunt.” He is the student of Cheryl Evans. Lexi Edwards of Highlands Junior School won “Junior School Best of Show” for her artwork, “Cowgirl Daydreams.” She is the student of Carla Griffin.

 

Bond Update
Goose Creek CISD bond projects are moving ahead on schedule, said David Fluker, director of facilities and construction for GCCISD.
