GCCISD School Board Names Ross S. Sterling Principal
Following a Friday morning board meeting, the Goose
Creek CISD Board of Trustees has announced the selection
of Don Beck as principal of Ross S. Sterling High
School. Beck, the current principal of Devine High
School in Devine, Texas, succeeds Trey Kraemer, who
accepted a principal’s position in Humble ISD.
Beck has served as high school principal in Devine
since 2005. From 2002 to 2004 he was the principal
for the Sabine Pass schools before accepting the principal’s
position at La Vernia Junior High in La Vernia, Texas
in 2004.
A former high school teacher, Beck worked for Silsbee
ISD and Woodsboro ISD, where he taught algebra and
geometry while coaching basketball, track, and cross
country.
Married and the father of three children, Beck holds
an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas
and a Master’s from Lamar University. He received
his superintendent’s certification from Lamar
and in April 2008 was accepted into the university’s
doctoral program.
“I am pleased that Don Beck has accepted the
position as principal of Ross Sterling High School,”
said GCCISD superintendent Dr. Barbara Sultis. “He
is a committed educator with a history of meeting
the needs of all students, which is our core purpose
in GCCISD. A former math teacher and creative thinker,
he has been instrumental in working with his teachers
to implement success initiatives for students, and
his wealth of knowledge will continue the initiatives
and vision that have been put in place for Sterling
High School.”
