Sterling Stars Drill Team Contest Awards

By: Lori Alexander

This past weekend the Sterling Stars attended their first competition of the 2021 Season. They competed with American Dance/Drill Team at the Houston Regional Competition at Goose Creek Memorial and did an outstanding job. The Stars received Sweepstakes awards on all dances – which means division 1 ratings with scores of 90 or above from all judges on all routines. The girls were named Best in Class for both Team and Officers, as well as Best in Class Large Ensemble. They swept the competition, with the Varsity Officers being named BEST OF THE BEST TEAM for the entire day, and the Field Officers being names 1st Runner Up Best of the Best overall. Our JV team the Sapphires also received a division 1 rating on their Pom. Both teams were named academic champions in their respective Varsity and JV Divisions. The Stars & Sapphires have worked extremely hard all season, overcoming every obstacle that was thrown at them and continued to grow and improve each week, especially in these unprecedented times. Their passion on the dance floor was so powerful and moving, and it was a joy to watch them dance their hearts out and leave everything they had on the floor each time they performed.
