"I was a non-traditional college student and took the long route to complete my degree. My parents always wanted my sisters and I to attend the best schools and instilled how valueable education is so they were my solid foundation for going to college. Among several favorite teachers that helped me along my journey, my Mom was my #1 inspiration and cheerleader. I wanted to quit several times because college is hard and even harder when you are a parent, but she told me all the time “You can do it” and her belief in me is what carried me through. Her legacy is what I hope shines through when helping my own daughter and especially my students. I know what it’s like to fail and I know what it is like to overcome. I hope I can continue to help others the way I have been helped."
