Gentry Students Explore Plastics

Elijah Martinez (left) and Cameron Kibodeaux, eighth graders in Ervin Fisher’s science class at Gentry Junior School, mix borax and polyvinyl alcohol during an informative science session provided by the PlastiVan program, sponsored by Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. The program, presented by Eve Vitale from the Society of Plastics Engineers, allows students to explore the science behind objects they use in their everyday lives, such as diapers, nail polish and food packaging.
