Yarbrough Receives FFA Jacket

FFA advisors pose with Yarbrough

Thanks to the Lee High School FFA, FFA advisor Patricia Alvarez and students, Lori Yarbrough received a gift she has wanted for many years – a blue FFA jacket.

Yarbrough, an avid supporter of the Lee FFA, has shared many stories about her FFA experiences growing up in Llevelland. She often lets the Lee FFA borrow her “sweetheart jacket,” a jacket given to females for joining the organization between 1969-1975.

“Mrs. Yarbrough had shared her desire to own her very own FFA jacket. In the sense of FFA, the jacket is an iconic representation of the FFA throughout the United States,” Alvarez said. “Thank you to everyone for keeping it a secret and letting us surprise this wonderful woman during National FFA Week!”

Alvarez also thanked the Levelland FFA Chapter for allowing Lee FFA to purchase the jacket and to Callie Yarbrough for providing the correct size.

“I have been in education for many years and getting this beautiful jacket is one of my highest honors,” Yarbrough said. “I am so proud of the Lee High school FFA program and make every effort to tell the girls there my story of being one of the first girls allowed in the FFA program. For Patricia Alvarez to put all of the tremendous amount of work I now know she went through to get me this treasured blue jacket is an honor I will never forget. I am so proud to be an official member of the Gander FFA team!”
