Three students win honors at State VASE competition

Three Goose Creek CISD students won top honors at the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) held in Bryan in April.

These students were honored by Goose Creek CISD trustees and given plaques recognizing their efforts on May 14.

The artwork of Jazmine Rodriguez, a sophomore at Ross S. Sterling High School, earned top honors for her artwork and was selected as a Gold Seal winner, the highest honor in VASE. Her artwork will be exhibited in a variety of venues across the state, culminating with the Gold Seal Exhibition at the annual TAEA Fall Conference. She is the student of Annie Watson.

Forrest Ivey, a Sterling junior, won a top award in the competition. He is also the student of Annie Watson.

From Robert E. Lee High School, senior Angela Gonzalez earned a state VASE award. She is the student of Emrie Werth.

The purpose of the Texas Art Education Association VASE is to recognize exemplary student achievement in visual art through individual and original expression of ideas applying the elements and principles of art based upon research of art media and art history.
