Thirty-nine Goose Creek CISD students who competed in the recent Lee College Regional History Day contest, with a total of 24 projects, earned the opportunity to advance to Texas History Day at the University of Texas at Austin April 29. Students who placed first or second at Regional History Day advanced.

“We had so many outstanding entries, I believe it was one of the toughest competition years we’ve seen. I am so proud of the hard work our students put into their projects, and the quality of their work was excellent. Our judges were quite complimentary of our Goose Creek students on both the level of scholarship of their work and the quality of their interview skills. The parents and teachers did a great job of supporting our students and helping to get them prepared for this event,” said Faith Longorio, GCCISD’s social studies coordinator.
