Susan Jackson, deputy superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Goose Creek CISD, came to the district in 2009 as special programs and testing coordinator at Ross S. Sterling High School. From 2014-2015, she served as principal at Baytown Junior School and as principal at Goose Creek Memorial High School from 2015-2020. She began her career in education in 1994, teaching English and reading in her hometown of Lufkin. After teaching for a short time in Orange, she became district assistant principal for Spurger ISD for two years and elementary principal in Warren ISD for a year. She also served as junior high principal in Somerville ISD and principal of West Sabine High School.
During the tenure at Goose Creek Memorial, Jackson worked to raise dual enrollment from 60 seats to more than 2,000 seats, teamed with Beacon Federal Credit Union to place a branch on campus for student training and education as well as collaborated with students and Aramark to open a coffee shop, operated by students, on campus. She also facilitated collaboration and cooperation between departments and cross-functional teams to support and establish programs, lessons and student activities.
Jackson holds a Bachelor of Science in English and reading and a master’s degree in educational leadership school administration; both from Stephen F. Austin State University.
