School Counselor at Gentry Junior School

I am a native of Port Arthur, TX. I came to Goose Creek CISD in 2014 and began my career at Highlands Junior School as a Special Education teacher and department chair. I graduated from Lamar University Beaumont with a Masters in School Counseling in 2017. This is my 1st year as a school counselor at Gentry Junior School and am enjoying working with students on a greater level. My hope daily is that I am able to encourage and support students so that they can flourish and become positive and productive citizens. I have one son who is in his second year of college. In my free time I love to spend time with family and friends, read inspirational devotionals, cook, and bake. One of my favorite quotes is “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”-Maya Angelou

As a Black American Woman, this month is a recognition of the contributions that many Americans of color have contributed to society. It is the opportunity to engage with and embrace the contributions set forth by our ancestors. I am proud to be a Black American Woman and grateful for the sacrifices of those before me, for if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be where I am today.
