Lee High School Theatre Students Set Records at Competition

Lee High School theatre students perform at uil

Lee High School Varsity Theatre students performed Tracks by Peter Tarsi at the UIL District competition March 11-12th.

 

McKinlee Brady and Bianca Juarez earned Honorable Mention All Star Cast. Dayna Steyn and Steven Smith earned the All Star Cast award and Aaron Rivera won an award for Best Tech.

 

Dayna Steyn earned Honorable Mention All Star Cast, McKinlee Brady received the All Star Cast award, Beya Almaraz received the Best Tech award. The Tech Crew, which consisted of all cast members, won the coveted Best Tech Crew award, which is only given to one company in the competition. The crew must rank excellent in all the following categories: Organization, communication, adaptability, problem solving, working as a unit, execution of technical presentation, communication during performance, adaptability, problem solving during performance, and working as a unit during performance.

 

Ruth Henderson, Lee High School Theatre Director, spoke highly of the students and their performance during the competition. “I am always open to the plays that students want to produce for UIL One Act Play,” she said. “They loved the message of grace, self-forgiveness, and the courage to have faith in the good. They felt that this play would be very healing for the people of our community, as well as themselves. It was truly a passion project.”
