Professional development opportunities are an integral part to the success of any employee; but especially in Goose Creek CISD. The Business Services department, led by Brigitte Clark, Chief Financial Officer, looks for creative and innovative ways to provide her employees with learning opportunities.

The Business Services University is being offered by the department as an opportunity to ensure secretaries and bookkeepers are provided regular training opportunities. B$U is offered to 10 participants per month and will focus on the following objectives:

  • Ensuring end users are provided with refresher courses to successfully complete the business tasks of their jobs
  • Eliminating the perceived chasm between campus/department staff and the business services administrative team by:
    • allowing open and honest discussion between participants and the business services team
    • providing training opportunities and updates in a friendly, open environment
    • allowing all participants to have a voice in modifying/improving business processes
  • Developing an online “How To” guide to assist in various business-related tasks

As part of the B$U, the Business Services team also developed an online access point to allow secretaries/bookkeepers to provide feedback and input on developing the training sessions. Upon completion of the session, those attending will “graduate” and be awarded a certificate of completion to recognize their participation.
