Chief Davis Smith, Superintendent Dr. Randal O’Brien, Board President Richard Clem, COO Dr. Anthony Price and Director of Safe and Secure Schools Robert Marquez pose with HCDE Center for Safe and Secure Schools employees during the September 6th Board meeting.
The district’s latest collaboration with CSSS was serving as the host site for the Center’s reunification training exercise, held in early June 2022. The department brought in the “I Love U Guys” Foundation to provide attendees with training on the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) as well as the Standard Reunification Method (SRM).
The Harris County Department of Education’s Center for Safe and Secure Schools (CSSS) was established in 1999 at the request of school superintendents to advance safe and secure environments for learning and teaching. CSSS partners with federal, state and local entities to take the lead in the development of increased safety and security strategies, standards and best practices for K-12 school environments for both students and educators.
