GCCISD Students Have “Permission” to Win Big at Spelling Bee

Goose Creek CISD held their annual district Spelling Bee on February 23rd. The contest went for 21 rounds, with the correct spelling of the word “permission” as the final qualifier.

 

Ethan Wheeler, a sixth grader at Gentry Junior School, won first place. Brenda Herrera, a sixth grader at Horace Mann, won second place and Anirudh Sunil, a fifth grader at Victoria Walker, won third place.

The winners will head to Houston Community College’s Southeast Campus Learning Hub to compete in the 2023 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 25th. The three top spellers will advance to the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will be held May 28 through June 3rd in National Harbor, Maryland.
