The Fall 2023 Youth Leadership Academy celebrated a successful 6-week program with a graduation in November. The Baytown Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) promotes youth leadership and responsibility through service, community involvement, and civic education.

Participating students studied the City budget, worked with different city departments, and participated in neighborhood empowerment exercises. Students also learned more about municipal government and the roles of different City of Baytown employees. Students enrolled in GCCISD, private, or home school within the GCCISD boundaries are invited to apply for the next YLA in the spring.
