Goose Creek CISD welcomed visitors from the Apple Distinguished School (ADS) program on their Houston visit from May 7th to May 9th. The visit, highlighting Goose Creek Memorial High School and Crockett Elementary School, marked a significant phase in the district's ongoing commitment to innovation in education.
The Apple team's visit wasn't just a routine check-in; it was an opportunity for both parties to engage in meaningful dialogue. Led by CTO Matt Flood and Superintendent Dr. O'Brien, alongside campus leaders, the meeting served as a platform to showcase GCCISD's strides in integrating technology into the learning environment and to provide crucial feedback on the ADS program's evolution.
At GCM, secondary campus leaders participated in a roundtable discussion, offering insights, and expressing gratitude for the ADS program's impact. They delved into how Apple's technology has facilitated project-based learning, with students seamlessly integrating iPads into their educational journey.

Students at Crockett Elementary showed Dr. O’Brien and Apple Distinguished Schools program visitors how they use iPads in their classrooms.
At Crockett Elementary, the enthusiasm was palpable as 5th-grade Apple students opened the visit with a dynamic Q&A session, showcasing their proficiency and enthusiasm for learning with Apple technology. The tour of the campus provided a firsthand look at how iPads are transforming education, from kindergarteners mastering math concepts to upper-grade students mentoring their peers using core content vocabulary.
The visit left a lasting impression on GCCISD schools, igniting excitement for the prospect of learning from other Apple Distinguished Schools and, perhaps, securing certification themselves in the coming year. As Goose Creek continues to push the boundaries of innovation in education, collaborations like this underscore the district’s dedication to providing its students with the tools they need to thrive in a technology driven world.
