The Goose Creek ISD Fine Arts Department and the GCM Memorial Theatre Company are thrilled to announce that their production of Julius Caesar has been selected for performance at the prestigious 2024 Texas Thespians Festival in Grapevine, TX. This honor places the company among the top high school theatre programs in the state, giving students an extraordinary opportunity to showcase their talents on a statewide stage.

The Texas Thespians Festival, one of the largest theatre festivals in the nation, brings together thousands of students, educators, and theatre professionals to celebrate the performing arts. Being chosen to present Julius Caesar highlights GCM Memorial’s dedication to theatrical excellence, creativity, and teamwork.
“This opportunity is a testament to the hard work and passion of our students who designed this production from the ground up,” said Gina Martin and Peyton Wood-Smith, directors of the GCM Memorial Theatre Company. “We are incredibly proud to represent our school and community at this level, and we look forward to sharing our interpretation of Shakespeare’s timeless work with such a distinguished audience.”
The company’s performance will take place during the festival, which runs from November 20-23, 2024 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, TX. The students will join over 8,000 attendees from across the state in workshops, competitions, and performances that celebrate the best of high school theatre.
GCM Memorial’s Julius Caesar offers a bold, modern interpretation of the Shakespearean classic, exploring themes of power, betrayal, and ambition through an innovative lens. The production has already captivated local audiences, and the company is eager to present its work to the larger community of Texas thespians.
Participation in the festival provides not only the chance to perform on a high-profile stage but also access to invaluable learning experiences through masterclasses and adjudicated events. Students will engage with professional artists and peers, gaining inspiration and refining their craft.
The GCM Memorial Theatre Company is honored to represent Baytown at the Texas Thespians Festival and is grateful for the support of the local community, parents, and school district. Their journey to Grapevine embodies the spirit of hard work, creativity, and a passion for the arts that define the theatre program at GCM Memorial.
