Clayton Baker
Giant Alumnus of the Month
Our Giant Alumnus of the Month for January 2025 is Clayton Baker, a graduate of Ross S. Sterling High School and dedicated dance teacher at Gentry Junior School.
During her time in high school, Clayton excelled as a leader and role model, participating in numerous organizations and earning multiple honors. She was actively involved in NHS, Key Club, Student Council, and served as Student Body President. As Homecoming Queen in her senior year and a member of the Stars Drill Team all four years—rising to Lieutenant Colonel as a junior and Colonel as a senior—Clayton exemplified dedication and leadership. Her talent in dance earned her a spot on the TDEA All-State Dance Team, and she began her professional journey early as a staff member with Marching Auxiliaries for four years.
Clayton continued to shine beyond high school, becoming a member and Co-Director of the University of Texas Roustabout Dance Team. Today, she is a second-year Houston Rockets Clutch City Dancer, a member of the SoReal Dance Company in Houston, and a staff member at Tru Talent Dance Studio in Mont Belvieu. Her impact extends across GCCISD, where she choreographs for Lee, Sterling, and Goose Creek Memorial drill teams and solos during competition seasons.
Currently, as a dance teacher at Gentry Junior School, Clayton shares her passion for dance and performance with her students, inspiring them to reach their full potential. She has created a Performance Team to help her students prepare for high school drill teams, instilling confidence, discipline, and a love for all genres of dance. Clayton's dedication shows her students that dreams are within reach through hard work and perseverance.
Her community impact and passion for mentorship make her a perfect example of a GCCISD Giant growing more Giants. Clayton’s commitment to excellence inspires everyone she meets to strive to become the best version of themselves.
