MATHCOUNTS is a national middle school mathematics competition promoting student interest and mathematics achievement. It provides engaging math programs to U.S. middle school students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem-solving.

Highlands Junior School, led by Coach Kirti Kulkarni, secured 3rd Place in the Team Competition. Congratulations to team members Amelia Solis, Leobardo Rueda, Ian Elliot, and Rafael Hernandez.

E.F. Green Junior School, led by Coach Rashad Abdul-Jabbar, achieved an impressive 2nd Place in the Team Competition. Congratulations to team members Anay Gupta, Yashvir Gill, Manavendra Chouhan, and Vihann Singh.

A special highlight of the competition was E.F. Green’s Anay Gupta, who was selected to participate in the highly competitive Countdown Round. This intense, head-to-head contest pits top-scoring chapter competitors against each other in rapid-fire rounds—answering questions in only 45 seconds with a live audience. After three grueling rounds, Anay Gupta emerged victorious, claiming the Countdown Round Championship for E.F. Green Junior School and GCCISD.

E.F. Green Junior School will proudly represent Goose Creek CISD at the MATHCOUNTS State Competition on March 8 in Irving, Texas. The district extends its best wishes to the E.F. Green team as they prepare to compete at the next level.
