Congratulations to Roger Sutterfield on being named the new Lee High School Athletics Coordinator/Head Football Coach!

Roger Sutterfield has been a dedicated member of the Gander Family, serving in multiple leadership roles that have prepared him for this opportunity. His previous positions at Baytown Lee include Assistant Head Football Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Academic Coordinator, and Run Game Coordinator for both offense and defense. He has a proven track record of developing athletes on and off the field and is committed to building a program centered on hard work, discipline, and unity.
A Baytown native, Coach Sutterfield was born and raised just south of the railroad tracks behind Lee in a little house on Oak Street. Growing up, he attended nearly every elementary school on Baytown’s south side of I-10. He married his high school sweetheart, and the two have been together since 10th grade, celebrating 19 years of marriage. After high school, Coach Sutterfield went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University with a dual bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and History.
Together, Coach Sutterfield and his wife are raising four sons: Everett (16), Emerson (15), Easton (11), and Elliot (8). Everett serves as the team’s drone technician, while Emerson plays receiver and safety for Lee.
"It’s an honor to step into this role and lead this program. My mission is to build men of character first, with champions on the field following as we focus on this year’s theme: your brand and the legacy tied to your name."
