Marissa Gonzalez
Giant Student of the Month
Our Giant Student of the Month for October 2025 is Marissa Gonzalez, senior at Ross S. Sterling High School.
Marissa’s journey is defined by leadership, purpose, and a deep commitment to education. This summer, she earned first place at the National Educators Rising competition in public speaking, delivering a powerful speech on teacher turnover and retention—an issue of national importance. Her passion for advocacy and education shines through her role as the TAFE Educational Awareness Officer, a position she has held for three years, where she has presented at the district’s College and Career Night and inspired future educators.
A natural leader, Marissa currently serves as President of both FCCLA and NTHS, while also contributing as Academy Ambassador Historian, NHS member, and representative on the District PR Squad. Her leadership and confidence were on full display when she was selected as the keynote speaker for GCCISD’s convocation, where she motivated teachers across the district with her message of passion and perseverance.
Marissa’s talents extend beyond leadership and academics into the fine arts. She is a two-time Orchestra Solo and Ensemble State Qualifier and has been recognized as a Texas Music Scholar. Her well-rounded achievements reflect a leader who leads with service, collaboration, and humility—qualities that make her a role model to all who know her.
Marissa is the embodiment of hard work, grace, and dedication. Whether she’s leading an organization, inspiring her peers, or performing on stage, her impact continues to uplift her school, district, and community.
