Giant Alumnus of the Month

Our Giant Alumnus of the Month for March 2026 is Jennifer Monier-Mendez, a former standout of the Global Business Academy at Goose Creek Memorial High School.

Jenny is currently pursuing a degree in business at the University of Texas at Austin, where she has turned her personal history into a roadmap for others. As a first-generation college student who immigrated to the United States as a child, she faced the complexities of navigating a new country and an unfamiliar education system. Rather than simply overcoming these hurdles, Jenny documented her journey from immigration through high school and into higher education to ensure future students would not have to walk that path alone.

Her academic contributions have made an impact at the university level. Jenny authored a powerful research paper reflecting on her experiences, and her work is now utilized by UT Austin professors as a resource for other students. This research has transformed her into a catalyst for community engagement, earning her invitations to showcase her findings at high-profile donor events and to present before the prestigious Texas Leadership Society.

Jenny’s professional trajectory is equally impressive. She was recently accepted into a competitive summer business internship with Amazon in Las Vegas, where she will continue to sharpen the skills she first began developing in the Global Business Academy.

Jenny took the obstacles of her own journey and paved a clear path for those following behind her.
