Kristi Malpass
Giant Alumnus of the Month
Our Giant Alumnus of the Month for April 2026 is Kristi Malpass, softball coach for the Texas Bombers and Sterling High School class of 2006 graduate.
Kristi’s journey as a standout athlete began at Sterling High School, where she earned a spot on the varsity softball team as a freshman. Her talent and discipline on the mound led to a full-ride scholarship to pitch for Houston Christian University (formerly HBU). Today, she translates that high-level collegiate experience into a coaching career that is transforming the lives of young athletes across the state.
As a coach for the Texas Bombers, one of the premier softball organizations in the country, Kristi has become a driving force behind the program’s national success. She recently led her teams to become the reigning 14U Tier 1 and Tier 3 Alliance national champions. Her excellence in the dugout earned her the #13 spot on Line Drive’s Top 50 National Club Coaches list, and she was further recognized with the Community Spotlight award from Alliance Fastpitch.
Kristi’s dedication extends far beyond the dugout of her own teams. She consistently opens her workouts to the community, hosts specialized camps, and travels throughout Texas to ensure young women have the resources they need to succeed. By mentoring players through the recruiting process, she has helped countless athletes secure college scholarships and athletic opportunities, mirroring the path she once walked.
Colleagues and players alike praise Kristi for her unique ability to develop talent while maintaining a personal connection. She is known for setting high expectations and helping her players believe they are capable of more than they imagined. Her work with younger age groups has built a foundation of excellence that ensures the next generation of athletes is deeper and more prepared than ever before.
From her days as a young Ranger athlete to her current role as a national-level coach and mentor, Kristi Malpass embodies the spirit of a leader. She is a true inspiration to young women in sports, proving that the lessons learned on the fields of Goose Creek CISD can lead to a lifetime of impact.
