Madison Gilbert

Giant Student of the Month

Madison Gilbert, our Giant Student of the Month for May 2021, is a 2nd grader at Crockett Elementary. She is dedicated to her schoolwork and empathetic to her classmate's needs, always providing a helping hand. This year, Madison can add published author to her list of accomplishments. Her essay, "A Different World," is featured in My Young Life Matters, published in March. Madison is one of 100 children whose essay was chosen to be published in the book. The book allows students to express themselves about racism, police brutality, social injustice, and Black empowerment. It is a collection of essays, short stories, and poems written by children ages 6 to 17. She is a giant inspiration for students and staff because, at such a young age, she had the courage and ambition to take on the challenge of opening her heart to the world by writing this very transparent essay for all to read.
