Giant Staff Member of the Month

Our Giant Staff Member of the Month for May 2022 is Tammy Davis, Director of the Peter E. Hyland Child Care Center. The P.E. Hyland Child Care Center is a licensed daycare facility that accepts students from six weeks old to pre-kindergarten. The center is designed primarily for teen mothers who can continue to attend school and graduate with the center's support. P.E. Hyland also serves as a facility for employees' children. Mrs. Davis remains dedicated to building a solid foundation that prepares children to start and succeed in school, giving them solid ground to stand on as they pursue their education. She is genuinely growing our youngest of giants.

Tammy started with GCCISD in 2006. She organizes monthly events which involve parents in their child's learning, fills the hall with decorative and creative artwork made by students, dresses up as Clifford the Big Red Dog, and partners with United Way to develop a gorgeous learning garden on the Day of Caring. It is not unusual to see children immersed in fun activities such as interactive water play, growing flowers, finger painting, or dressing up as book characters. As if this wasn't enough, Mrs. Davis serves as a guide for teen moms, giving them support and guidance. She has nearly two decades of motivating young parents to be the best they can be. The families and staff want to give a huge thank you to Mrs. Davis for always being cheerful and smiling!
