On Saturday, February 24, 2024, the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures of the University of Texas at San Antonio accompanied by the Alliance Française de San Antonio, the Consule Générale de France, and the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Houston, organized their annual “Journée de la Francophonie”.

Students enrolled in a French program from 15 different high schools came together to celebrate the francophone athletes who will be participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and competed in 10 categories for all levels such as prose recitation, prepared and impromptu reading, dictation, video presentations, art, singing, theater, and music.
Goose Creek Memorial, under the leadership of Ms. Langlois, was the school to win the most medals, 27 overall, with Axel Moreno (Level 1) with the most among all the schools: 4 gold medals and 1 silver.
