Empowering Excellence: GCCISD AVID Schools Make Progress

Several Goose Creek CISD campuses have made significant strides in implementing Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) at high levels schoolwide. The district takes pride in acknowledging the notable achievements of various schools in obtaining AVID certifications, showcasing their dedication to fostering college and career readiness among students.

 

The following GCCISD schools have earned prestigious AVID certifications, reflecting their commitment to providing scaffolded support for educators and students:

  • IMPACT Early College High School - Schoolwide Site of Distinction: Recognized for excellence in AVID implementation, showcasing its commitment to creating a college-bound culture.
  • Goose Creek Memorial High School and Highlands Junior School - AVID Schoolwide Sites, emphasizing their dedication to equipping students with the skills necessary for success in higher education.
  • Baytown Junior School, Cedar Bayou Junior School, Horace Mann Junior School, Lee High School, Sterling High School - Emerging Schoolwide: Making commendable progress in implementing AVID practices across the campus.
  • Gentry Junior School - Certified: Affirming its commitment to providing students with the necessary skills and support for success.
  • E.F. Green Junior School and Stuart Career Technology High School- New Site Implementation: Recognized for embarking on the AVID journey, showcasing dedication to the initial stages of AVID implementation.

 

The purpose of AVID is to provide scaffolded support that educators and students need to encourage college and career readiness and success.
